This concept germinates from the very nature providing cure for most ailments. This is the basic of traditional systems of Indian medicine. Scientific efforts are a boost to bring this system to the forefront.
GUESS is trying to revive and support this age-old practice of traditional systems of Indian Medicine. These systems covering Ayurveda, Sidha and Unani depending on medicinal herbs and plants. GUESS Promotes these systems through awareness creation and promotion of sustainable cultivation of Medicinal, Aromatic and Dye Yield Plants.
GUESS trains communities near forest areas about the need for sustainable collection of naturally grown herbs without their extinction and help them grow some of the commercially viable species of Medicinal, Aromatic and Dye Yield plants to control the unscrupulous exploitation by out siders of natural wealth from forests.
GUESS has initiated a comprehensive strategy, structure and systems to promote the concept of "Green Health" primarily to highlight the importance of using traditional Indian medicines which are manufactured from Natural resources such as Medicinal Plants, Herbs, Aromatics, Dyes, Roots, Weeds, Trees, Plants, Creepers, Leaves, Flowers, Fruits, Seeds, Spices etc.
According to the World Health Organisation 80% of the World’s population relies on traditional system of medicines. China & India are the largest users of medicinal plants. In India an estimated 7000 varieties of medicinal plants are used in the traditional health care practices. GUESS mission is to bring about a change in life systems that help sustain current and future generations.
“Green Wealth” is an approach to ensure sustainable livelihoods for the under privileged rural and semi urban people by using local resources and skill up-gradation with community participation. Towards this end, GUESS has forged an empowering program for rural and semi urban communities in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India.
“Green Wealth” is an initiative of GUESS to promote sustainable, equitable, decentralized agricultural and environmental systems for augmenting wealth from Nature and its Elements based on local diversity and economies, thereby contributing to improving livelihoods, poverty reduction and long-term ecological and economic sustainability.
GUESS has developed the concept of "Green Wealth" mainly devoted towards economic upliftment, empowerment and employment for the rural communities. GUESS initiates several measures to ensure sustainable livelihoods for the under privileged people using local resources, skill up-gradation and community based programs. It also provides relevant training to these people to improve the scope for employment.
Towards this end, GUESS has forged an empowering partnership program with rural community to provide skill based training to enhance employability and help them understand about various development and livelihood programs for their better prospects. GUESS has designed many projects to explore the employment opportunities through the development of rural economy and to improve per capita income of the people living in rural areas.
GUESS conducts number of training programs on a continuous basis to the communities to transfer knowledge by sharing the expertise about Organic Farming, Commercial Agro Forestry, Vermi Compost, Wealth out of Waste Concepts, Innovative Sustainable Green Concepts, Renewable Energies such as Solar, Wind, Bio Mass, Hydro etc., Herbal Health Care Concepts such as Ayurveda, Sidha, Unani etc., Bio Fuels, Bio Fertilisers, Bio Pesticides, Bamboo Plantations, Soil & Moisture Conservation, Natural Resources Management, Natural Pest Management, Non Timber Forest Produce, Waste Land Development, Preservation of Bio Diversity, Preventive Measures for controlling Ground Water & Ozone Depletion, Global Warming, Air & Water Pollution etc., Rainfed Agriculture, Use of Natural Dyes, Commercial Cultivation of Spices, Medicinal, Aromatic and Dye Yield plants.
GUESS has launched various sustainable initiatives to address the problem of rural poverty and provided knowledge & skill development through Seminars, Workshops, Exhibitions, Awareness Camps, Field Visits, Live Demos and Literature etc.
GUESS is in the process of setting up of a“ Global Ecology Center ” attached with “Rural Transformation Center” and “Rural Technology Park” with various Innovative Sustainable Technology Models to educate and to share the knowledge for better future of the rural communities.
